What's New for 2022?

The Dodge Challenger was fully redesigned in 2008, and availability of the Widebody package was expanded to include more models in 2021. About the only change Dodge made to the Challenger for 2022 is its newly available alarm system.

Performance

You'll have a blast driving the new Dodge Challenger. Each model has plenty of oomph for running errands in the Chicago area, but the Challenger SRT Super Stock can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.25 seconds! Available engines in the new Challenger include:

• Standard: 3.6-liter V6 motor with 303 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque
• Optional: 5.7-liter V8 engine making 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque
• Optional: 6.4-liter Hemi motor producing 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque
• Optional: 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with 717 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque
• Optional: 6.2-liter high-output supercharged V8 motor putting out 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque
• Optional: 6.2-liter high-output supercharged V8 engine making 807 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque

The Challenger comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but a six-speed manual is available. The Challenger is one of the few sports cars that offers all-wheel drive, but its only available in SXT and GT trims with the base engine.

Technology

You'll have easy access to music, maps, or smartphone apps with the new Dodge Challenger. Each model has the UCONNECT® infotainment system, which has straightforward menus for easy operation when you're cruising in Chicago. Other standard amenities in the Challenger include:

• A six-way power-adjustable driver's seat
• Support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
• A 7.0-inch infotainment touch screen

Interior

Get inside the new Dodge Challenger and you'll be enamored with its ergonomically arranged layout, featuring infotainment controls that are canted toward the driver. The Challenger comes standard with cloth upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, but leather-trimmed seats are available. Its roomy cabin has lots of space to stretch out, and its 16.2-cubic-foot trunk is one of the largest in its class.

Safety

People in the Chicago area will feel confident driving the new Dodge Challenger, which received five stars for overall safety from the NHTSA. It's built with a high-strength steel frame, crumple zones, and numerous airbags for your protection. The Challenger comes standard with a rearview camera, and numerous driver assistance features are available.

Trim Levels

The new Dodge Challenger comes in five well-equipped trims, including:

• Challenger SXT: The base model comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, 60/40-split folding rear seats, and more.
• Challenger GT: This trim adds a functional hood scoop, performance steering, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and remote engine start.
• Challenger R/T: This model has all the same features as the GT, but it has a more powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine. It also comes with an active performance exhaust system.
• Challenger R/T Scat Pack: This trim comes with a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and a premium six-speaker audio system. It also has a launch control system and a high-performance suspension.
• Challenger SRT Hellcat: This top-of-the-line model comes with a dual-snorkel hood with a performance engine cooling system, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and SRT-specific styling cues among its many features.
